The touchstone active "output-transformer-volume-control" uses a directly coupled 6SN7 driving a stepped output transformer to give the clarity of a TVC, with exceptional drive capabilities. Very low output impedance means it can even drive a pair of sensitive speakers. No capacitors in the signal path.
